What Is Lead Testing?

Lead testing is the process of identifying lead-based paint and other lead-containing materials in a building. Lead was commonly used in paint until it was banned for residential use in 1978. Homes and buildings constructed before that date may contain lead-based paint on walls, trim, doors, windows, and other surfaces. The only way to confirm whether lead is present is through professional testing by a licensed inspector.

When Should You Get Lead Testing?

Lead testing is recommended in the following situations:

  • Before purchasing or selling a home built before 1978
  • Prior to any renovation or remodeling work that may disturb painted surfaces
  • When a child or pregnant woman lives in or frequently visits an older property
  • During an insurance claim or legal dispute involving potential lead exposure
  • For rental property compliance and landlord liability protection

Our Lead Testing Process

Super Green Environmental uses XRF (X-ray fluorescence) screening and laboratory analysis to test painted surfaces and building materials for lead content. XRF testing is non-invasive and provides immediate results on-site. Where lab confirmation is needed, we collect bulk samples and submit them to an accredited third-party laboratory. You receive a written report with all findings documented clearly.
