What Is a Mold Remediation Protocol?
A mold remediation protocol is a written document prepared by a licensed mold assessor that outlines the scope of work required to properly remediate mold from a property. It specifies which areas are affected, what materials need to be removed or treated, what containment procedures are required, and what clearance standards must be met. Florida law requires that remediation protocols be prepared by a licensed mold assessor — not the remediation contractor — to ensure there is no conflict of interest.
What Is Post-Remediation Verification (PRV)?
Post-Remediation Verification, or PRV, is an independent inspection performed after mold remediation is complete. It confirms that the remediation work was performed correctly and that mold levels have returned to normal. A PRV includes air sampling, surface sampling where applicable, and a written clearance report. Many insurance carriers require a PRV before closing a water damage or mold claim. Without a passing PRV from an independent licensed assessor, there is no documentation that the remediation was successful.
Why Use an Independent Assessor?
Under Florida Statutes § 468.8419(1)(d), a mold assessor or the assessor’s company may not perform or offer to perform mold remediation on a property it assessed within the previous 12 months. Super Green Environmental is strictly an assessment firm — we prepare protocols and perform PRV testing, but we never perform remediation. This means our clearance reports are unbiased and defensible in insurance claims, legal disputes, and regulatory proceedings.
